| Unknown Speaker | Present. |
| Wayne Matewsky | Join roll call. |
| SPEAKER_04 | Yes, all right. Council Garcia. Present. Council Matewsky. |
| Michael Marchese | Here. We have four members present. We do have a call. Everybody please stand and salute the flag. |
| SPEAKER_05 | recognition I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. |
| SPEAKER_04 | All right, we have one item on the agenda. And this is a petition of White Council Stephanie Martins as president. A petition requesting a new auto repair license for Romero Auto Repair at 2081 Revamping Parkway. |
| SPEAKER_05 | I'd like him to make a motion to invite our petitioner up. |
| Michael Marchese | Second. Motion made. Second to invite Mr. Isabel. Come up here, please. |
| Wayne Matewsky | Press the button for the... Councilman Chomsky. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Mr. Romero, this business... You're going to keep the same name, Andre Auto Service? Correct. Okay. Just so you know, Mr. President, this location is across from Ritchie Slush. It's been there for many years, at least 25 or so years. It was a gas station prior. They repair tires, and they added an addition to the building. They do auto body mechanical work. And I had an opportunity to talk to Mr. Romero prior to the meeting. As you know, I live only 10 doors away on Lewis Street. This is the corner of Lewis Street and Revere Beach Parkway. And I can tell you, the previous owners, we've never had a problem. And they have solved tire issues with people. for many years. I think you're aware of the little tiny company. But you've been in business before, Mr. Romero? No. This is your first business? Correct. Okay, well, this is the Business and Community Development Committee. We give approval to the City Council, yes or no. And you have experience in the mechanical business? |
| SPEAKER_00 | labor I worked, so the previous owner was my cousin. So I was in and out helping him all the time. |
| Wayne Matewsky | All these years. So you've worked at the location, and you're buying it from your cousin? |
| SPEAKER_00 | Yeah. |
| Wayne Matewsky | I see. Okay, that makes sense. So you know the area. We expect a clean operation. No more than whatever is required. I think they have a license for maybe nine cars on the property. Do they, Mr. Burley? Yeah, about nine cars are allowed to be parked. It is a pretty big lot. But it's a nice neighborhood, Lewis Street, Gladstone Street, Paris and Bailey. They're all your neighbors. And there are new neighbors moving into Revere Beach Parkway with all the additional apartments. So we expect a nice, clean business. You'll notice European Motors just a few blocks away. Beautiful operation, nice and clean, no trouble. And we expect that, you know, in the future. Where you work for your cousin, we expect that. So I have no further questions, Mr. Chairman. Councilor Hanlon. |
| John Hanlon | Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Are you going to be any painting, spray painting? |
| SPEAKER_00 | No. |
| John Hanlon | So you're not going to be doing body work? |
| SPEAKER_00 | No, no body work. |
| John Hanlon | No body work, just engine retransmissions, that kind of thing? |
| SPEAKER_00 | Tires and mechanics. |
| John Hanlon | Okay, and have you been doing this yourself, this kind of work? |
| SPEAKER_00 | No, not on, no, just... Somewhere else? No, with my cousin. |
| John Hanlon | Oh, okay. And was this place a farm and gas station? It was. 25 years ago. Yeah, so there's no gas in there at all. No, they got rid of the tanks. Okay. Have you mentioned your hours of operation? |
| SPEAKER_00 | We there from 8 to 5.30, Monday to Friday, and Saturday 7 to 1. |
| John Hanlon | Thank you. Okay, Mr. Chairman. Thank you. |
| Michael Marchese | recognition Do we have any more questions? Mr. Romero, you're part of the family that's there with the Andrade family owns it right now? |
| SPEAKER_00 | My cousin. |
| Michael Marchese | procedural Your cousin. All we're doing now is just transferring it over to your name. Do we have any more questions? Excuse. |
| SPEAKER_00 | Thank you. |
| Michael Marchese | Thank you. |
| SPEAKER_00 | Thank you. |
| Wayne Matewsky | Mr. Chairman. Counselor. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. You know, I had an opportunity to speak with him. If he's related to the other people that ran the operation and he's worked there, I think we're going to get along fine. You have to respect that neighborhood. We put up with a lot down there with the trains, the planes, the trucks. So we expect him to do the right operation there. So I would ask for favorable action. |
| Unknown Speaker | Second. |
| Wayne Matewsky | Motion being seconded for favorable action. |
